I am a practicing oral and maxillofacial surgeon and had joined All-on-4 program conducted by Dr. Rajat Sachdeva to learn only the prosthetic rehabilitation part. But as I complete this course now, I have discovered various approaches for implant placement and there was so much that I was missing out on. The experience was an awakening one and I am glad that I decided to pursue this program. The course was well-designed and Dr. Rajat has made excellent efforts to personally guide every participant in the course. We were guided on how to select the right cases for this concept and motivate patients to accept it wishfully. This was majorly done by showing the patient their final smile which convinced them to undergo such a complex, relatively uncomfortable procedure. There is a huge gap between what is taught in our dental colleges and what is actually practiced in clinics. Although having completed my master’s in Periodontics, implants were still new and unemployed much in my own practice. It was mandatory for me to get additional training in implants so that I can confidently practice. Dr. Sachdeva’s dental institute offers a variety of courses on implants including clinical implants training, All-on-4 and zygomatic course. All-on-4 was a relatively new concept for me and had read about it only in theory. The idea of supporting an entire full mouth prosthesis on just 4 implants is very fascinating and complex to execute successfully in a dental setup. Our mentors, Dr. Rajat and Dr. Vivek Vardhan were highly experienced and internationally trained to perform such sophisticated procedures. Step by step guidance was provided right from the case selection, diagnostic scans, proper planning and final placement of implants. We worked with advanced digital software overlapped with CBCT scans depicting the 3D model of the jaws to plan the position of implants. The institute is well-equipped with all the necessary armamentarium required for such a technique sensitive concept. We even had the opportunity to use intraoral scanners for taking digital impressions. All in all, it was a wonderful experience and a great turning point in my implants career.
