“I run my own practice in Itanagar, and I have regularly been doing RCTs, extractions and other basic dental procedures in my clinic. But somehow, I had always felt that there was something lacking in the way I carry out my procedures with quite a few of my cases failing. I have followed Dr. Rajat Sachdeva’s videos and blogs for a while now and the general dentistry course seems like a reasonable choice for me to pursue. The decision has been fruitful as I now am able to understand what exactly were my faults and how should I amend it.
The entire course is comprehensive and very practical-oriented. With a background of sound knowledge, we were made to practice as much as we could on typodonts. I learnt the “right” way of doing RCTs, which was more professional, evidence-based and yielded high quality results. We were taught the importance of rubber dam and the technique of using it. Crown cutting was yet another very common procedure that we encounter on a daily basis, but do not know the rationale for different finish lines, difference in the preparation of veneers, inlays or onlays, use of gingival retraction cord, different methods of isolation etc.
Apart from the day-to-day procedures, I even got an opportunity to work with intraoral scanners, air abrasion with Aquacare, learn the digital workflow for a smile design and emax veneers, and work with materials like polyether. The patient inflow at the clinic is also tremendous and as a student, I got to assist in different types of implant surgeries, impactions using peizosurgical unit and periodontal surgeries even. I was given an all-round exposure and my experience here has opened my mind to what new advances have emerged in dentistry.
Dr. Rajat Sachdeva’s institute is among the handful ones where you get a holistic training and also peek a glimpse into real-time experience with different patients and case scenarios. Soft skills like convincing patients to accept the treatment, managing the patient’s expectations and supervise the entire support team and keep them motivated were definitely easy to pick up from Dr. Rajat sir’s practice. Unlike most of the lot today, he set a perfect example before us that one can succeed by practicing ethically and working hard.
I would like to recommend this course to my fellow clinicians as well, because gaining such amount of practical exposure in a span of weeks to months is really worthwhile. The amount of confidence I have gained in here and knowing that all my procedures are based on science and evidence is really assuring. As I return back to my clinic, I am sure of providing a high quality of treatment to my patients. I am definitely coming back again to pursue my training in implants as well.
